Honor Code of Academic Integrity
Grace Hardison TEFL University is an academic community, its fundamental purpose is the pursuit of knowledge. Essential to the success of this educational mission is a commitment to the principles of academic integrity. Every member of the University community is responsible for upholding the highest standards of honesty at all times.
Conducting Research with Integrity
Acknowledging your sources through meticulous citation is foundational to the work of research with integrity.
Academic Dishonesty Definitions
Activities that have the effect or intention of interfering with education, pursuit of knowledge, or fair evaluation of a student’s performance are prohibited. Examples of such activities include but are not limited to the following definitions:
- Plagiarism: using the ideas, data, or language of another without specific or proper acknowledgment. Example: copying another person’s paper, article, or computer work and submitting it for an assignment, cloning someone else’s ideas without attribution, failing to use quotation marks where appropriate, etc.
- Fabrication: submitting contrived or altered information in any academic exercise. Example: citing nonexistent articles, contriving sources, etc.
- Misrepresentation of academic records: misrepresenting or tampering with or attempting to tamper with any portion of a student’s transcripts or academic record, either before or after enrolling with Grace Hardison TEFL University. Example: forging a change of grade slip, tampering with computer records, falsifying academic information on one’s resume, etc.
- Unfair advantage: attempting to gain unauthorized advantage over fellow students in an academic exercise. Example: gaining, providing obstructing or interfering with another student’s efforts in an academic exercise, lying about a need for an extension for an assignment or paper. etc.
If a student is unsure whether his action(s) constitute a violation of the Code of Academic Integrity, then it is that student’s responsibility to consult with the University to clarify any ambiguities.
Honor Code Pledge
By enrolling in a Grace Hardison TEFL University program, I agree that I will:
- Complete all assignments on my own, unless collaboration on an assignment is explicitly permitted.
- Not engage in any activity that would dishonestly improve my results, or improve or hurt the results of others.
- Not post answers to problems that are being used to assess learner performance.
Disciplinary review
When the final outcome of the disciplinary review is a finding that the student is not responsible for an academic integrity violation, then the Academic Advisory Boardmust adhere to the disciplinary decision, grading the academic assignment as legitimate work.
When the final outcome of the disciplinary review is a finding that the student is responsible for an academic integrity violation, then the Academic Advisory Board may implement the following as determined.
If you are found in violation of the Terms of Service or Honor Code, you may be subject to one or more of the following actions:
- Receiving a zero or no credit for an assignment;
- Having any certificate earned in the course or program withheld or revoked;
- Being unenrolled from a course or program; or
- Additional actions may be taken at the sole discretion of the Academic Advisory Board.
No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations.
A student found responsible for committing an academic integrity violation has the option of submitting one written appeal request. If no appeal is submitted, the original resolution becomes the final outcome of the academic integrity concern.
Appeal requests resulting from implementation of notificationsmust be submitted within three weekdays (Monday-Friday) after the date of notification of the original resolution outcome.
Honor Code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of the Academic Advisory Board. You will be notified if a determination has been made that you have violated this Honor Code and you will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken as a result of the violation.
